Paintings: 1995-2002

1995 to 2002 was a period of painting in response to a range of personal and public motivations and stimuli.  Among the works, The Unfurling is a response to the September 11th attack, 2001.  The left panel of the triptych holds a tangled pattern of red and blue against a tarnished white field, juxtaposed with a center and right panel randomly filled with splinters of light and blurred overlays of cascading sullen washes.

Another painting titled American Berserk, is a visualization of coming of age during a contentious period in American history.  A group of four Book paintings from 1997 express abstracted interpretations of imagined illuminated manuscripts.
